I wish there had been a book like this around when I finished college and got it into my head that buying a home forever was my next step!! Home buying for Dummies was my go to. Many of the words of wisdom in this book may initially seem like common sense but you would be surprised how much one can overlook when the adrenaline of house hunting kicks in. I love that this book is written in layman's terms and can be easily understood without needing a license in real estate. The cautions in this book are real and will help one to avoid a poor decision that could potentially alter one's financial security and overall safety for years to come. My favorite word of advice included in this book is, consider carefully the urge to have everything be "new" all at once. This seems to be a common budgeting pitfall that many of my friends fell in to. This book also gives sound advice about the process of house hunting including choosing a realtor and some secrets of the trade! There are a few minor typos but these are easily overlooked as one learns how to avoid common mistakes from a clear expert in the field. I would recommend if you are new to house buying or fresh out of college like I was.
