Such a beautiful cookbook. Well written and easy to follow. And I really appreciate the pictures of the pantry items, which can be intimidating shopping for. I started following Julie on IG about 2 years ago, I don't remember how I stumbled on her page but I did and I am so glad. She not only provides great videos to show the process, but she has also responded to each and every question/comment I made. She is a kind and generous person and her parents are a delight too. I am always in aw of her mother and her father is everything you'd want in a father. When I learned she was writing a cookbook I was thrilled. I have only just begun my journey in this book, started off by making the pickled carrots (minus the daikon because I forgot to get it) and then made the caramelized pork recipe (pictured). I did substitute pork for ground chicken, as mentioned in the book. The hardest part, for me, was leaving it undisturbed.it was delicious and I can see this becoming a go to for me like it is for Julie. Everything is so approachable too.I also really enjoyed the stories she wrote, and chuckled when she said she tried doing things different from what her mom said only to learn that she should have listened to her mother all along. I was glad she wrote that because I tend to cook the same way, I would veer from a recipe because how bad could it be. I know that I shouldn't with this and I won't.I'm excited to pick the next recipe to cook. I know it will be delicious and I also know that if I have a question Julie will be there to help and answer. If you are looking for an easy to follow cookbook to get into Vietnamese cooking, this is a must have.
