Ashley is a warm and winsome guide to the season of Advent, with a host of ideas on how to celebrate in the home. Here are the major sections of the book, from the Table of Contents:1) How to use this book2) What are the seasons of the church?3) What is Advent?4) How to celebrate Advent5) Advent traditions for the entire season6) Advent traditions for specific days7) Advent devotions8) Advent recipesI appreciated this description, from the section on "How to Celebrate Advent":"Advent properly observed is radically different from the way most of us celebrate the Christmas season. It is a time of waiting, longing, and joy-filled expectation. It is a time to emphasize in every way delayed rather than instant gratification...Although properly observing Advent can be difficult (especially when the wider world skips it altogether), the feeling of joy when Christmas finally arrives will be that much greater."Full disclosure: I both consulted with Ashley on the content of the book, and assisted in its publication. So please know that I am hopelessly biased in favor of this book! At the same time, I believe Ashley's content is appealing on its own, which is why I quoted from it in this review. I look forward to reading what other buyers think of the book!
