Description

Perhaps mere survival isn't the objective of life. Perhaps some thrive amidst the burden of challenges, striving ahead with tenacity, vision, and hope. Perhaps this is the mindset of Americans - life is what you make of it, come what may. The Cowards Stayed Home is an homage to the legacy of the Sorbel Family, whose roots traversed frozen tundras and vast oceans to land in the American Midwest. It is among this backdrop that Randy Sorbel served life with an ideal higher than survival, in service to his country, his community, and ultimately, to the belief that prosperity is the true legacy of life.

The Cowards Stayed Home by Randall Sorbel had me engaged from beginning to end. In just two sittings on one Saturday night I devoured this enthralling book of Randall Sorbel’s life story. The Cowards Stayed Home beautifully delivered an uplifting and inspirational message that life is entirely what you make of it. Some of the core tenets include the importance of vision, perseverance, courage and self-reliance. This message of self-reliance and the earned life was particularly key. As Mr. Sorbel put it, “I was not a helpless victim. In fact, this mentality made life less stressful because it was I who would determine how far I could go on my journey.”My favorite quote comes in Chapter 4 when Mr. Sorbel recounts , “In retrospect, a sense of invincibility was our constant companion, as bullets simply didn’t carry our names as targets. Determination of the mind is the true armor.”Ultimately, the Cowards Stayed Home, was a highly enjoyable book which left me feeling inspired and compelled to tackle my own challenges and create the life that I have imagined.
