Description

Oklahoma Ed Moody occupied a musical territory somewhere between honky-tonk and western swing, between Jack Guthrie and T. Texas Tyler, with a glance back at Jimmie Rodgers. While he was never as well known as any of these, and never scored any hits, he was the real thing – a crossbreed cowboy-hillbilly singer with origins that stretched back into the 1920, though he didn’t make it into the recording studio until 1945. In a recording career that lasted less than three years, he cut twenty tracks, roughly half of which were his own songs. He may have occupied a stylistic milieu close to that of Guthrie, Tyler or Ernest Tubb, he sounded like no-one else but Ed Moody. Track Listing: Oklahoma Hills, Careless Darlin, Forever Is A Long, Long Time, Sitting Alone On My Doorstep, No Kisses For You, Down The Trail To Home, Cant Win, Cant Place, Cant Show, What Good Would It Do, If I Could Go Back, Bad Little Girl, Im Still Cryin Over You, Mail Order Mama, Dont Hand Me That Line, Ill Remember You Love In My Prayer, No Alibis, Youll Never Change, Dont Look Down On Me, Too Many Sweethearts, Gravy Train, The Devil In Disguise
