If you wanted to pick up some great Late-1970's work of Baker, look no further. Most of the music was recorded In February 1977 with overdubs done in May 1977.This 2-CD set contains not only 2 full Baker albums, but an additional 10 (!) previously unreleased tracks and runs over 2 hours and 35 minutes. The 2-CD set includes the complete original albums "You Can't Go Home Again" (4 tracks) and "The Best Thing For You" (6 tracks) along with 10 additional tracks-mostly alternate versions (but worthwhile for sure)...Support includes some giants of jazz-including saxophonist Paul Desmond's very last recordings made just a week prior to his death.Don Sebesky (my favorite arranger) arranges and conducts his arrangements doing his usual excellent, classy job.Musicians include Michael Brecker: tenor saxophone, Paul Desmond: alto saxophone, John Scofield: guitars,Gene Bertoncini: guitars, Richie Beirach: electric piano, Kenny Barron: electric and acoustic piano, Ron Carter: upright bass, Alphonso Johnson: electric bass, Tony Williams: drums, other musicians included are supporting Don Sebesky's wonderful charts and are to numerous to mention-however among them are Hubert Laws on flutes and Ralph MacDonald on percussion among various violin, cello, and wind players. If you were thinking of picking up either one of the 2 albums previously mentioned, this is by far the best option. You get the 2 full albums as well as an additional 10 previously unreleased tracks (often alternate versions of the tracks)...One of my Top 2 or 3 Baker albums.....
