The price on the inside cover is $26, so that’s annoying. These Amazon sellers have the price jacked up. This book is from 1990. It’s top of a list I found for best grilling books, which is probably why it’s in demand. It’s just not that great. I bought my brother a Weber gas grill and wanted a book that will teach him to be a great griller. This isn’t it. This is a 30 year old recipe book. I need a book that is both instructional and has recipes. And a book that specifically addresses gas grilling. Further, the presentation is terrible. There are a few glossy pictures in the front of the book, but there is no integration between the pictures and the recipes. So I went to my bookshelf and pulled my own grilling book: Williams-Sonoma Essentials of Grilling from 2003. It is so superior. Visually stunning, it explains everything about grilling and has great recipes. I’m going to return this Thrill book and try to find my brother a copy of the book I have. If all you want are recipes, in 2022 you don’t need a book; you have the internet. Not only are the recipes tried and true, this was the book that took superior cooking to the grill, and with it the value of a great fire and super ingredients along with knowing, you are only as good as the products you start with. That my friends started how we feel about the food we buy. Not to mention how cool these two fellas are in describing the dish. Priceless. One of the best books on the practice of BBQ/Grilling. It strays from the traditional methods of flavoring and seasoning but it's not so far off center that it should intimidate you. It offers unique alternatives to what you've learned or what you think you know about grilling. I've been a regular visitor to Chris Schlesinger's EAST COAST GRILL restaurant in the Boston area, and his menu was always so unique and offbeat compared to the other local BBQ themed establishments that I had to read up on his techniques. I am glad I did and I think you will too. When I received the spiral-bound version of the book I went through it and realized something was missing. A little research revealed that it only has half the recipes and almost none of the text, instructions, witty commentaries, or diagrams! I re-ordered a used paperback version, which is the full version, and I see why this is a real classic!Book was in good condition, as advertised.I'm not going to try to add anything to the already wonderful comments on this cookbook. However, I would like to point out that the spiral version is nothing like the hard-copy version. The format is completely different, with the recipies being printed on 5x5" cards that are spiral bound and are designed to flip over a built-in easel to aid in cooking while cooking. There are no pictures of any of the end results. I must admit that I get inspired by looking at pictures, so the lack of them really reduces the usability/desirability of this book.I had seen the hard-copy,which I loved, before purchasing the spiral bound version which got exchanged for the hard-copy version.I was looking for a book to get new ideas for backyard grilling. I found a few recipes in here that I'll make, but honestly 90% of the stuff in this book neither I nor my husband would eat. If you're looking for recipes from foreign countries using ingredients you don't even know how to pronounce let alone where to buy locally, you'll like this book. But if you're looking for down home American grilling ideas, this ain't the book you're looking for. Also, many of the recipes are nothing to do with using a grill, but rather non-grilled sides and such. Does have some nice marinades, sauces, etc though.Best grill book out thereThis book arrived on time, as described. It is out of print thus new copies are hard to find and expensive. This used copy was good enough to give as a gift. Thanks
