As a fan of Darrell Scott I have almost all of his recordings and enjoy them all. I particularly love his collaborations with Tim O'Brien, the old time acoustic sounds and have seen him live doing those tunes as well as songs from A Crooked Road. The performances were fantastic.All of that to say that when this album hit my ears everything got elevated by several notches. This is by far the best recording by anyone I have purchased in the past ten years. The feel, the lyrics, the collaborations, the quality of the recording all make this just a fine example of honest and heartfelt country music. From the groove on Hopkinsville to the pure melancholy of It Must be Sunday the album kicks off strong and never falters. If you have a sense of the roots of country music and the desire to hear real quality in a modern recording, this album will meet and exceed those expectations. Long Ride Home is a must have for Darrell Scott fans and for anyone who appreciates what can be recorded by a super talented but completely grounded performer.
