As a radio guy looking for new music that is creative and fresh is a quest. Sheryl doesn't lose her identity in penning songs on this project and she manages to pull off country and some material that could work on pop radio, such as Easy, the first single that was to be marketed to country radio.Sheryl has always had the 'fixings' for country and it's nice to hear her writing applied to a Nashville bent. My vote is for Why Do You Always Call Me When I'm Lonely as the followup single. She catches the country vibe in this one with atypical Sheryl lyrics that always seem to be drawn from life than fitting a formula. You get catchy pop with a slight country lilt, straight contemporary country with Sheryl's personal stamp and some songs that reflect the opportunity for her to make new fans in more traditional country music (Homecoming Queen and Stay at Home Mother). This is not so far removed that longtime fans will be alienated. The album is a good one through and through with enough variety to keep your interest. If she is struggling to stay fresh in contemporary music, I hope she breaks that difficult country barrier. I think there is a vast amount of material she could unleash in coming years and it will only be seasoned with her life experiences in Nashville along the way.
