The lamp is solidly constructed, heavier than expected and looks great on my desk. The included bulb is a cool white, which I do not like for desk work. The lamp adjusts at the shade head and at the arm. This allows for a wide variety of adjustments. When you loosen the arm, it will fall if not supported (as my 9 year old discovered before I told her to leave it alone). The lamp does not rotate at the base, so the base itself needs to be rotated if you want to rotate it from side to side. The lamp has long cord, but unfortunately, the switch is near the plug rather than the base of the lamp, which makes no sense. Since I am using this on a desk with a power strip that is under the desk, to use the switch I would have to crawl under the desk to use the switch. I like the look of the lamp enough that I decided to keep it anyway, but only because I added a smart light bulb Some things to note: 1) it's big, much bigger than you may think, so take care looking at the dimensions before ordering because this might look ridiculous on your bed-side table; 2) the top rod/bar cannot slide along the pivot-point like a proper lamp of this style should do -- the part leading to the shade is welded onto the pivot point, while the end piece with the ball weight is screwed in, so you cannot adjust the length whatsoever; 3) the inside of the shade is not bronze as shown in the photograph, it is white -- for me personally this completely ruins any antique look. Bottom line: it really should be 20, or even 30, bucks cheaper than it is. It's ok but don't expect it look like a genuine antique lamp. To be fair, the points above about the inside of the lamp shade being white and the top rod not being able to slide to adjust the length may because of safety concerns -- white reduces heat absorbed by the bulb, being able to adjust the length of the bar would possibly affect the center of gravity and make it unstable. However, it should really be stated in the product description. The size of the product I can't really complain about since it's mentioned.Reasonably priced, quality desk lamps...hard to find. This one caught my eye though. The design is classic and could fit with various decors. It was shipped very securely, well-packaged, and did need some assembly. Nothing challenging. I was surprised at the size of the lamp. Apparently I didn't pay close attention to the dimensions and was expecting a smaller, subtle light. But this is a fairly big desk lamp with a decent sized base - so check the dimensions. Its very sturdy, seems to be of good quality. It adjusts at two points: on the 'arm' and up by the lamp shade so directing the light is easy. My only complaint is that the on/off switch is on the power cord. Luckily, between where we put the lamp and where we plugged it in, we still had access to the switch. But over all I love the look of it and would expect it to last quite some time. The Pros:This lamp is solid in its construction. Very heavy! It is really big for a desk lamp, but I knew that buying it and rather like it. True to it's picture, all the joints are adjustable so finding the right angle for the light is very easy. The Cons:This just more a preference than anything else. The power switch is a thumb dial on the CORD. That's annoying. I can't turn the light on or off while seated at my desk...I have to walk about to the back, squat down, and find the switch on the cord. Would've made a heck of a lot more sense to just put it on the base of the lamp within arms read.Sturdy and attractiveIt was hard to find a nice lamp in this style that was not ridiculously over priced so I was skeptical. However this one looks and feels solidly built. The base is heavy enough that it can be extended out or down quite far without feeling like it will tip over; a major problem with a lot of other lamps of this style. The on\off switch is a roller switch which is in line further down the cord than I would like for my purposes but it may be just right for you.I would have preferred a base mounted switch but could not find any like that.Overall I feel it was a good deal, looks good, feels sturdy and attactive. This lamp is the perfect fit for my bedside table. While it is a bit large it fits my space perfect. It is very well constructed, delivery time was reasonable, and packaged for shipment very well. Assembly was expected and very easy to do. Only took about 5 minutes. The adjustable arm and lamp make it very versatile to fit almost any space. The base is quite large but it ensures stability. My only gripe would be that the on/off switch is on the cord. But with a bit of work I'm sure I can rig the wire in a way to give direct access to the switch which is placed low enough where I can easily access it. I would have given 5 stars if the on/off switch was placed on the actual lamp.I bought this for my desk, and even then tried to switch it to my bedside table, but unfortunately, I won't be using this lamp. The main reason is the size. I guess I just didn't internalize the dimensions. The lamp is quite large. The base takes up a lot of space on any surface and the whole lamp, overall, takes up a lot of space.Additionally, again I didn't realize that there is no on/off switch ON the lamp. It is a cord on/off. It makes it really inconvenient to access. (The cord always hangs down behind the desk/table whatever - like it should- so accessing the on/off switch is problematic.)The lamp looks nice but really think about the size and accessibility of the switch.
