Description

A Place to Call Home is a sweeping romantic drama set in 1950s rural Australia following the lives of nurse Sarah Adams and the Blighs, a wealthy and complicated Pastoralist family living in Inverness, New South Wales. As Australia faces internal and external threats to its way of life so too do the people of Inverness, and previous alliances and relationships are tested: Sarah's dilemma between her feelings for George and her duty to her husband Rene is exacerbated by a heart breaking secret; James and Olivia's relationship is under pressure by the desire for physical fulfilment, while the true parentage of Baby George is threatened with exposure; Elizabeth Bligh's decision to leave Ash Park to explore a life of her own proves more difficult than she thought and the difference between Anna and Gino's fairytale romance and the reality of married life threatens to tear them apart. This DVD set contains all 10 episodes of series 3 and a bonus alternative series two finale.

This may be one of the best series I've seen on a subscription network (Amazon and Acorn). I'm not sure why others are saying they've only seen 3 or 4 episodes on Season 3 when all ten are here on Amazon via Acorn. Just watched episode 10 and [*SPOILERS] of course it was an all out fire works ending - leaving us to wonder if Elizabeth will survive her heart attack (who has gone from being a bullying battle axe in season 1 to an admirable and even lovable character by Seasons 2 & 3) to finally find real 'romantic' happiness. Whether Gino's pride will be able to tolerate Anna's success as a writer, will Sarah lose her baby after drinking Doris's tonic (that apparently has been laced with rat poison by the monstrously evil Regina), and, will Livvy seek out the rogue artist she had the tempestuous fling with? Will James search for her and baby George or turn back to his new friend/lover Doctor? Will the pompous, narcissistic, asinine Sir Richard, ever have to pay for raping Carolyn. Will she and Jack survive this trauma and, will Jack be persecuted for trying to save the young girl who died from the results of a butcher abortionist? And perhaps the biggest question of all; will Sarah and George ever rekindle their deep love with the wicked Regina between them? For those of you who are interested, Season 4 has been given a green light and is scheduled to resume sometime this year (2016). You can google it and find several sites that state that this. [...]We can conclude at least, that Sarah and George somehow get together from the wonderful opening scene (was it Season 2 or 3???) where we are brought forward to the present - or at least 50 years to the 21st Century, to see Sarah as a very old woman being interviewed in the beautiful study of the Bligh Mansion, by Livvy's grand daughter (? after all, she's played by Arianwen Parkes-Lockwood, the same actress who plays Olivia Bligh in the 1950's). Producers, PLEASE don't take forever to produce this next season as I've just found out I have a rare cancer in stage 4 =( and, have had to wait almost 3 months to start treatments. This series has helped me to find a respite from the pain and worries (thank you).As a few mentioned here, I'm NOT crazy about having to pay extra to Acorn to watch this 5 star program at a decent price nor that Amazon is providing less and less programs to those of us who have paid for the yearly Prime membership. I will be hoping and watching for Season 4 of "A Place To Call Home."
