This is one of those CDs that I can put on and just drift away with the music. Ed’s musicianship is superb, and he’s not afraid to stretch out and keep the music (and the mood) going for a while. There are only eight songs on the disc, but four of them are over 7 minutes in length, allowing time for the listener to be transported to the world of each song. This is not a commercial production which caters to the notorious short attention spans of many of today’s listeners, for which I’m most grateful. Several of these songs are old cowboy standards which are given totally new lives due to Ed’s superb arrangements. If you’re a fan of real, honest music, as opposed to the record industry’s schlock, I highly recommend this CD. It’s earned a permanent place on my playlist.
