These are the best flashcards I've found so far for phonics. I have a toddler and I appreciate that these cards provide the parent with tips for each card on how to pronounce each phonic correctly. The illustrations are also cute.Brilliant cards for getting your child learning phonics. Used in schools and gives children a head start with reading. My 5 year old grandson is reading fluently now.Very useful as suggested by the teacherThese are PHONICS cards (sounds which are spoken) and NOT alphabet cards (letters which are written). There is no 'q' card in the pack but this is correct as the phonic sound is 'qu' which IS in the packIf you are familiar with Ruth Miskin and Read Write Inc (taught in schools), these cards are exactly the same as the ones they use. If you are unfamiliar with Ruth Miskin then I understand why you may feel confused so maybe take a look at their website to get an understanding :)I have attached pictures to show exactly what you get in the pack and how the cards are used (all the instructions are included in the pack). My only issue is the 'sh' phonics card (picture side) as the writing reads 'The says horse shhh...' when it should read 'The horse says shhh'...A misprint that the company should have rectified but in the grand scheme of things I'm really pleased with these cards.55 phonics flashcards -7 instruction cards (numbered 1-7): With activities to help your child learn the Speed sounds, the letters that represent them and how to sound-blend them into words for reading.31 Speed sound cards - With the letter or letters that represent a sound on one side and a simple picture prompt on the other side17 picture cards - With pictures of things that contain the same sound as the Speed sound cards (flip the cards over for more pictures)These flash cards are rubbish. The description sounds as if they would be useful, but the product is nothing but a scam. You have a few cards with letters of alphabet on it and a few with a couple of letters like “ch”. On the back there is some nonsense. For example: “Say: ch-ch-choo! The horse sneezes when the caterpillar hairs tickle his nose.” What? Utter nonsense. You would have appreciated 5-6 words with “ch” so that the child could practice. Some other cards have a single word on them supposedly to help children read. Like “astronaut”. Seriously? Let children first learn “cat” and “dog” before graduating to astronaut!Completely disappointed with Ruth Miskin and her scam. They’re so useful so clear and perfect size with guided cards for adults on how to use them. I saw in few reviews as said it doesn’t have the letter Q but the thing is my son teachers in school told me that we show the kids that Q never comes alone by itself but always shows up with the letter U so we have them together in flash cards but as for the letter U there’s a separate card for that. These flashcards are, in my view, all you need to teach your child the simple sounds that are needed in order to read CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) words such as cat and dog. On one side, they clearly display the letter/sound. On the other side, there is the letter with an illustration incorporated as an aide-memoire,such as an apple drawn within an a or an insect within an i. This pack also includes some basic blends, such as 'sh'. By practicing these each day with my son (sometimes even in the bath), he soon picked them up, and I then extended it by putting two together e.g. i-s to spell 'is'. After using these cards, I proceeded onto the Peter and Jane series to begin to support recognition of 'tricky' words (i.e. more sophisticated than cvc words which don't follow typical patterns in how the sound is pronounced, e.g. me). My son was 2 years and a few months when we started, and we started with s, a, t, p, i, n. It's easy to find the letters at each level of difficulty as the flashcards are colour coded.I just received the flash card and I straight away started show every card to my daughter and let her say laud when she see the alphabet and there are no “ q “ , so disappointed and I need to buy another flash card because of the missing q , so annoying!
